Early in the twentieth century Ansel Adams and Fred Archer created the zone system to visualize and manage the tonality of photographs. Black and white photographers of the day, such as Adams and Yousef Karsh, created striking photographic prints using such techniques. How do we manage tonality in the era of digital photography? Does the zone system still apply? Find out at the April 23 Tips and Techniques session.

Ever get frustrated with how your images just don’t turn out the way you envision?
Well March 26th we have arranged to have some of our seasoned photographers share
tips they use to achieve their striking images. This round table discussion will be driven
by your questions about how tack sharp focus is achieved. Award winning photographers
who specialize in portrait, wildlife, and landscape photography will share their wisdom.

CLASSES TO BE GIVEN BY DAN BALLARD – MARCH 19TH & APRIL 2ND – 6:30pm – 10pm – at Evergreen Fire & Rescue

Class One, March 19th 6:30-10pm: One hour advanced composition, two and 1/2 hours Lightroom. Bring your laptop. 30 participants max. $40

Class Two, April 2nd 6:30-10:00: 30 minutes Lightroom review, 3 hours working on your personal images with Dan’s help. 10 Participants max. $100 for class one and two (class two cannot be taken separately)

Evergreen Camera club members will have the first choice in signing up.

As of March 8:The Dan Ballard classes are now open to other camera clubs in the area.

ANNOUNCING NEW PRINT COMPETITION STARTING IN MARCH

Announcing Print Competitions
A few members have expressed an interest in including a print competition in addition to our normal digital competition at our monthly meetings. At the planning meeting on January 22, it was decided to include print competitions at the March, April, and May monthly meetings on a trial basis to assess membership interest. The following rules will apply:
Procedure
1) The total number of submissions for a given competition, print plus digital, is limited to three per member.
2) The prints will be displayed, one at a time.
3) The judge will critique each print.
