July 8th meeting on underwater photography presented by Charles Dirks and Holly Marr, both members of our club

This is information about Holly Marr’s photography:
I have been diving since 2002 and starting taking pictures underwater in 2004. I became an SDI SCUBA Instructor with Twin Dolphins Diving in 2007. I starting taking pictures with a disposable camera and then upgraded to a point and shoot. I am currently using a Sea&Sea 8000G with a Sea&Sea DX8000 housing, dual Sea&Sea YS 110-a strobes and a wide angle wet lens. I have dove mostly in the Caribbean including Cozumel, Bahamas, Flower Gardens National Marine Sanctuary, Dry Tortugas and Roatan. As an amature photographer, I enjoy documenting my dives through pictures and sharing them with my fellow divers.

This is information about Charles Dirks photography:
I got SCUBA certified in 1998 and have been diving ever since. My diving has been limited to the Caribbean including Bonaire, Curacao, Cozumel and Turks and Caicos. I took my first underwater picture in 1998 with a rented Nikonos IV. I bought a Nikonos IV, then a Nikonos V and finally made the move to digital in 2006 when I purchased an Ikelite DS-125 strobe and housing for my Nikon D70. Even though I enjoy documenting all that we see underwater, I am working towards having my underwater photos tell a story just like what you would like to do on dry land. The colors that are even common underwater make the challenges of taking pictures in that environment worthwhile.
