Award winning photojournalist Dean Krakel’s work has appeared in National Geographic, Rolling Stone, National Wildlife, Outside, Time, Newsweek and Life magazines. His images of the Marlboro Man, photographed for the Leo Burnett Advertising Agency are famous worldwide.

Krakel is the author of three books, Season of the Elk, Downriver and Krakel’s West.

While Dean was Photo Editor and Director of Photography at the Rocky

Mountain News in Denver, the staff won three Pulitzer Prizes for photography.

Dean currently does freelance photography, writing and photo editing assignments from his home in Conifer, Colorado. He is a co-founder of American West Photography, supplying large exhibition prints of his own and other’s work for interior design in corporate offices and homes.

Last fall Dean and his friend Max Young of Renaissance Adventure Guides in Golden traveled 1400 miles across Southern Ethiopia documenting the wild tribes living in the remote Omo River Valley.
