For the January meeting, Andy Long will present a program on his many trips to Alaska.

Andy Long is an award-winning photographer / writer who devotes his photography work to the beauty of the world around us. As a leader of workshops since 1994, Andy likes to help people explore new areas and to go home with a memorable experience as well as great images.

Andy Long is an award-winning photographer / writer who devotes his photography work to the beauty of the world around us. As a leader of workshops since 1994, Andy likes to help people explore new areas and to go home with a memorable experience as well as great images.

With more than 100,000 stock images, work has appeared in more than 40 publications and books as well as in National Geographic and Animal Planet television shows. Besides these, work has appeared in Birder’s World, Outdoor Life, Colorado Outdoors, Alaska magazine, Audubon field guides, Texas Parks & Wildlife, regional AAA magazines, Montana Magazine, Outdoor and Nature Photography, Photo Media, National Cowboy Museum’s Persimmon Hill, Ancient Images note cards, travel brochures, Sierra Photographers Focus and in ads for Rollei cameras. He is a previous winner of the national RoseWater Network Photographer of the Year award.

Andy’s work has also appeared in several exhibits including the Art Wolfe Invitational Exhibit, part of a nationwide traveling exhibit entitled Reaching Out / Reaching Within, as a featured artist at the Packinghouse Gallery in Largo, FL and at the Jefferson County (CO) Nature Center as well as being displayed at the Photographic Image Gallery in Portland, OR; ArtWorks in Denver, CO and Trail Ridge Arts in Winter Park, CO.

Andy’s work is currently featured at nest.Articstic Home in Winter Park, CO. The gallery is located in Cooper Creek Square downtown. Nest is the premier gallery in this mountain resort town.

As a writer, he’s a featured monthly contributor to www.apogeephoto.com, an online photo magazine. Articles also appear in every issue of Nature Photographer magazine, of which he’s an assistant editor and featured columnist, and in other publications from time to time.

In addition to this work, he presented programs around the country as part of the Nature First Photography Seminars sponsored by Nature Photograper magazine. He also was a featured speaker at the 2011 Colorado Photography Festival and the New England Camera Club Council’s 52nd Annual Conference.

As a professional photographer since 1982, Andy tries to emphasize a unique eye in capturing images of our world and to pass this on to those who go on his trips. Having a passion for the beautiful world around us, he tries to show this beauty in his photography, and with helping others.
