Announcing Print Competitions
A few members have expressed an interest in including a print competition in addition to our normal digital competition at our monthly meetings. At the planning meeting on January 22, it was decided to include print competitions at the March, April, and May monthly meetings on a trial basis to assess membership interest. The following rules will apply:
Procedure
1) The total number of submissions for a given competition, print plus digital, is limited to three per member.
2) The prints will be displayed, one at a time.
3) The judge will critique each print.

Dan Ballard is an internationally known travel and landscape photographer from Colorado. His images take you on a visual journey to some of the world’s most beautiful and far-reaching corners. Dan has visited nearly 50 countries on 5 continents around the globe, and his work has attracted the attention and praise of some of the biggest names and companies in the photo industry.

EVERGREEN CAMERA CLUB FIELD TRIP
LOCATION: BOSQUE DEL APACHE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, SOCORRO, NM
Bosque is a straight shot down I-25 and about an hour south of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
DATE: Friday, February 14th through the weekend. This is Presidents weekend, so many of you will have Monday off.
TIME: If you leave early enough you may make it in time for the Friday night shoot. Its an 8-9 hour drive.

Steve Sumner, Executive Director of the Center for the Arts Evergreen, has been involved with the visual and performing arts throughout his entire career. Sumner is a designer and visual artist; he has a B.S. in design and photography from the University of Michigan and an MFA in painting and printmaking from the University of Massachusetts. Sumner has been a professor of art and senior university administrator. He remains today a strong advocate for arts education and arts in the schools.

THE LEADERSHIP MEETING FOR THE THIS YEAR WILL BE HELD IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE TIPS AND TECHNIQUES PRESENTATION ON STITCHING
All members are invited to attend the leadership meeting.
We will elect officers for the next year and discuss in what direction the club in headed and what programs you would like to see in the new year.
JANUARY 22, 2014 TIPS & TECHNIQUES MEETING – BERGEN PARK FIRE STATION 7pm (6:30pm Social time) PANORAMAS
Panoramas, how to stitch panoramic photos in Photoshop Elements and Photoshop.
Dick Oltman will demonstrate how to use the Photomerge Panorama feature found in both Photoshop Elements and Photoshop.
We will discuss shooting vertically (camera in portrait position) to get the best panoramas, camera settings, post processing and a demo or two on how to use Photomerge.
This session will be for both beginners and advanced, it is not technical. It is for those who would like to get started shooting panos.

Don’t forget to submit your photos for the ECC monthly competition by Monday, JANUARY 6, 2014 at 8 a.m. Good luck and remember you have to enter the contest to be eligible for the Kelby Training prize. Submit up to three entries (5 MB or less, please submit images with at least 3000 pixels on the long dimension) to beginner@evergreencameraclub.com for the beginners category, intermediate@evergreencameraclub.com for the intermediate category, advanced@evergreencameraclub.com for the advanced category.
