MAY 9, 2018 General Meeting: JOSEPH ROYBAL

by ecc

BERGEN PARK FIRE STATION
7 PM (SOCIAL TIME 6:30)

JOSEPH ROYBAL: Scouting and Preparing for your Photographic Journey: The Photography Field Guide

“Going into the field to take photos takes so much more than simply grabbing your camera and walking out the door to be successful,” Joseph Roybal explains in his upcoming presentation, Scouting and Preparing for your Photographic Journey: The Photography Field Guide. Join the Evergreen Camera Club on May 9th at 7:00 pm (come early to socialize or see Meetup for dinner details) at the Evergreen Fire & Rescue Building, 1802 Bergen Parkway, Evergreen to discover how Joseph prepares for a shoot. He will discuss his behind-the-scenes preparation and methods to search and create a detailed route to take advantage of and be most effective with his time in the field: from inspiration in finding an image, to looking at satellite imagery, all the way to creating waypoints online to take with you into the field for offline navigation. “These techniques always evolving for me; however, the fundamentals of preparedness and being aware are critical for maximizing my efforts as well as safety while in the field.”

UPDATE: For those who are interested, Joseph has posted a pdf of all of his slides for your enjoyment at this link.

Joseph Roybal is a professional fine art landscape photographer based in Denver. His tagline, Explore.Learn.Share. comes from a simple desire to raise environmental awareness and take everything he has learned and experienced in the field and share with others in presentations, private 1-on-1 photo tours, in addition to post processing techniques and getting your images to look their best for print. Joseph is proud to be represented by several of the industry’s leading companies such as ZEAL Optics, Mountain Standard, Peak Design and Vanguard Tripods and is a member of the Zenfolio Ambassador’s Team and Lowepro Storyteller Team.

APRIL 25, 2018 T&T: Do You Need a Permit to Photograph on Public Lands?

by ecc

BERGEN PARK FIRE STATION
7 PM (SOCIAL TIME 6:30)

If you routinely (or even occasionally) shoot in National Parks, National Wildlife Refuges, US Forests or BLM lands, this session is for you. About 10 years ago Congress passed a law that requires federal land managers to issue filming permits for photographic and video use of public lands. (Note – this doesn’t apply to state or local parks).

Permits fall into two major categories and photographers are often confused about needing a permit or which permit to acquire. This presentation will walk through the situations and circumstances such permits are required, inter net links, and general advice from a photographer and retired National Park Superintendent.
