Year End Competition
3 photos per person. Can enter one each in 3 categories or 3 in one category or 1 in one category and 2 in another. The judges will select best photo in each of the 5 categories for: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Then the judges will select Best Photo from those 15 photos…. plus one runner-up. The judges will have 15 photos to choose from, for the Best of the Year.

Categories:
1. Landscapes – scenic
2. Sports/action – could include but not limited to soccer, football, etc., race cars, bicycle races, air races, etc.

Award winning photojournalist Dean Krakel’s work has appeared in National Geographic, Rolling Stone, National Wildlife, Outside, Time, Newsweek and Life magazines. His images of the Marlboro Man, photographed for the Leo Burnett Advertising Agency are famous worldwide.

Krakel is the author of three books, Season of the Elk, Downriver and Krakel’s West.

While Dean was Photo Editor and Director of Photography at the Rocky

Mountain News in Denver, the staff won three Pulitzer Prizes for photography.

ECC CHRISTMAS PARTY – DECEMBER 8 – ELKS LODGE, EVERGREEN

This years Christmas Party will take place at the Evergreen Elks Lodge which is located on Iris just off Meadow Drive. We are having a catered dinner, will hold the year end competition and introduce the new presidents, and the other positions at the party.
The menu is as follows:
Orange-Cranberry tossed salad
Calypso Sweet & Sour Pork Loin
Roasted White & Sweet Potatoes
Sauteed corn with green & red bell peppers & onions
Rolls & Butter
Fruit trifle
The cost is $16.50 per person.
There will also be a vegeterian meal available for non pork eaters.

For those who would rather not do this assignment, you may submit in the Open Category. Send your photos to Brad Davidson at contest@evergreencameraclub.com by 8 am, Mon. Oct. 11, 2010. One Photo per Email. Photos no larger than 5 mb. Please do not send as an embedded image. Send as an e-mail attachment. Maximum of three submissions per member in any combination of Theme or Open category. Include your name, Division (A = Experienced, I = Intermediate or B = Beginner) and category (Theme or Open) in the subject line of your email.

Come join us to see Rob Palmer’s beautiful presentation of wildlife photography, and find out how he takes this and other amazing shots. The public is invited.

Rob Palmer:
NATURALIST: Rob has been involved with animals since he was very young. He has always had a passion for birds of prey, and has pursued that passion throughout his adult life. In college, he spent numerous hours studying the nesting territories of prairie falcons in Northeastern Colorado, and additional time researching screech owls nesting along the Boulder Creek trail in the center of Boulder, Colorado.

Cynthia has presented programs for us before and we are fortunate to have her return for a T&T session this month. Cynthia’s program on lighting should be helpful to all, from novice to experienced photographers! Cynthia teaches photography at the Art Institute of Colorado in downtown Denver.
She is also the daughter of our members, Doug and Betty Holling.
