by Ellen Nelson

The Image Critique Show
Enter photos to get more better

Learn from the best and have fun! Jeff Johnson and Rick Avalos have a monthly photo critique show aptly named “The Image Critique Show” (theimagecritiqueshow.com) and they are once again bringing the show on the road to Evergreen Camera Club! This will be a special edition with guest host Cherri Hammon sitting in with veteran Jeff Johnson who has presented to the club a number of times.

Submit an image of your choice on the ECC website (in the CONTEST menu) or CLICK HERE, limit 1/person, or 25 total images, whichever comes first) and watch and listen how it can become “More Better.” Be sure to follow the rules on the entry page or your photo won’t get critiqued.

“If you have never submitted a photo before, this is the best way to do it!” Jeff explained. This is also a great time to get feedback on a photo you are considering for the Mount Evans Home Health Care and Hospice’s Seasons of our Mountains calendar contest, now accepting entries.

Join the Evergreen Camera Club on Wednesday, May 14th for 6:30 pm social time, brief announcements at 7:00 pm with the Image Critique Zoom presentation to follow. There will be no in-person for this meeting.

New members, students and guests are welcome.

March 12th 2025 General Meeting: Making Street Photographs & Street Portraits with Kenneth Wadja

by Ellen Nelson

We did not record this meeting, but here’s a great article about Ken’s work:
Photographer Travels Across America Capturing Portraits of Strangers on a 6×6 Rolleiflex | PetaPixel

Street photography is all about strong storytelling. It’s photographs of candid moments of people in public, the kind that aren’t boring but rather dynamic and worthy of a ‘photographic tap on the shoulder:’ “Hey look at this, check this out, look what I saw!” and it better be worth their time, not just a photograph of a person walking down the street on their phone which makes them say, “So what? Who cares?” In this presentation, Kenneth will share the way he approaches street photography and will reveal how he created over 500 street portraits in the past seven months on film, from New York to California, by constructing a pop-up portrait studio in the street. He saw every passerby as a potential subject, getting them to agree to pose, directing their body and expression, all the while controlling the light.

Join Kenneth and the Evergreen Camera Club in person in the auditorium at the Evergreen Fire and Rescue Station (1802 Bergen Parkway, Evergreen) on Wednesday, March 12th for 6:30 pm social time, brief announcements at 7:00 pm with Kenneth’s presentation to follow. There will also be a Zoom option.
