Raptor Photo Shoot Fundraiser!

by Guest

Hey everyone! I wanted to send you this flyer about our upcoming photo shoot fundraiser with Opperman Photographics! Oct 9, 10, and 11th we will have different species of raptors each day and many of them will be flying. The funds will help us care for our raptor ambassadors and rehab patients during fall as we have lost most of our school and library programs due to the pandemic. The shoot will be socially distanced and masks will be required. We will be in beautiful Canon City and Florence, Colorado with some incredible desert backdrops! Space is limited to 10 people – there are 8 spots available on Saturday, but Friday and Sunday still have 10 slots open. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please pass along to anyone you think might be interested – beginner or advanced! Thank you and hope to see you there!

Urban Wildlife Photo Invitation

by ecc

Evergreen Camera Club has been contacted by Bob Dean, President of the Colorado Urban Wildlife Photo Club asking for help from photo clubs across Colorado:

The UWPC has undertaken a project to inform and educate folks about urban wildlife. We think it’s going to be a lot of fun and will provide folks with an opportunity to display their images and creative writing at http://oururbanwildlife.org/.

  • We need images (the internet is, above all, a visual medium)
  • We need blog posts – The general topics are listed on the website. Feel free to interpret those topics in any way you choose
  • We’d like longer form articles
  • In order to bring viewers back to the site, it must continually provide fresh content
  • Look at the site as an opportunity to promote your own work – photographic and written

Click Here to download a pdf with more info.

If there are questions, please get back to me.
Thanks and regards,

The Western Pack Burro Association is looking for
Photographers

The Western Pack Burro Association is looking for <br>Photographers

The Western Pack Burro Association is looking for Photographers to help photograph their summer races. The races are held in historic mining towns throughout Colorado in honor of the old miners that would race their burros over the mountain passes during the gold and silver rush days. All experience levels are welcome to participate. It is a great opportunity to develop skills. The races take place in very scenic areas and provide plenty of opportunities to practice artistic skills. The burros provide some really fun photo opportunities as well, as they tend to have a mind of their own. In past years some of the photographers photos have even been published in magazines. Here are links to sign up for each race. Sign up for as few or as many as you wish. If the sign up for a race is full contact Barbara Gertz at cbgertz@gmail.com and she can get you registered. Also a few of the races require some travel, if you are interested but would like to carpool to the race also contact Barbara and she can help to connect you to other members that are attending.

Here are the links to all the races. Feel free to contact Barbara with any questions you may have.

I was approached by Bruce Hansen at the Evergreen Art Center who was looking to give away a complete color enlarger system and a dry mount press. He will recycle them if no one wants them, but would love to give them to someone who would use them. He sent me the pictures below – please contact him at 303 909 2631 if you are interested in any of this gear.

NOSTALGIC DENVER

The following is from new member Lynda Tygart

Opening: Friday January 18, 2019 6-9PM

SYNC Gallery
931 Santa Fe Dr. #100
Denver, CO

When I moved to Denver a few years ago, I was inspired to photograph my new neighborhood in Berkeley. Tennyson Street was so charming with its little cottage homes, galleries and barbershop. Just a few years later, I would be looking at those photos with fond memories. Almost overnight, those cottages were replaced with new slot homes and apartments. Suddenly, my photographs from 2012 are now Nostalgic!

After witnessing what happened on Tennyson Street, I decided to start photographing other sites in Denver as the city continues to change in many ways. Each original is printed and hand colored, creating an aged appearance. The viewers will feel they are looking at old postcards from days gone by, even though many of these pictures were taken just a few months ago.
