March 22nd 2023 T&T
Paint Mines Interpretive Park

The Paint Mines Interpretive Park is one of El Paso County’s unique open spaces. The Paint mines are named for their colorful clays that were collected by American Indians to make paint. Brightly colored bands, caused by oxidized iron compounds are found in varying amounts through out the many different layers of clay.

Four members of the Evergreen Camera club took a trip to explore and photograph these fantastic geological formations. Join us for an in-person presentation of what they discovered! We will meet on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 6:30 for social time and 7:00 for the presentation in the Evergreen Fire Station Auditorium. We will have NO ZOOM for this meeting.

New members, students and guests are welcome.

Join us at the fire station:

Holistic Photography Workshop
Seeing, Sensing, Creating Mindful Images

Sunday, August 21 TO Saturday, August 27 2022
At Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu New Mexico

In the desert landscape, nature rewards us with a sensuous palette of colors. Ghost Ranch is about slowing down and connecting with the sacredness of the land. Come and explore the red rocks, deep blue skies and mystical petrified trees with your camera. While most photography classes focus on technical competency, this class takes a mindfulness approach, emphasizing intuition and imagination. When we release expectations of how things ought to look, we free ourselves to create artistic images that come from our soul.

Imagine an entire week with just you and your camera, surrounded in the beauty of Georgia O’Keeffe’s backyard. Tap into your intuition, your creative spirit and your five senses. Join kindred spirits at this unique workshop. It will change the way you take photos and it just may change the way you see the world.
A series of exercises will be offered each morning to engage the senses and improve your powers of observation and composition. Guided hikes and field work will be available or participants may choose to work on their own. We will photograph sunrises, sunsets and visit sacred landscapes around Ghost Ranch and the surrounding area. Digital images will be loaded onto a computer for sharing and group reflection. All levels welcome.

I would love to have group members join me. Feel free to contact me for more information

Randee Lipson Lawrence Ed.D., ECC member and Professor Emeritus National Louis University, will be teaching a week long photography workshop at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu New Mexico in October that some members may be interested in.

Opening for France Photo Workshop

Opening for France Photo Workshop

ECC received this email from Bill Dickson, an ECC member 10-12 years ago.

Hello Evergreen:

I am Bill Dickson from Littleton (former Evergreen resident and Evergreen Camera Club member) and I am writing to the Evergreen Camera Club to see if someone in your Club would be interested in purchasing our deposit of $1394 for $300 (1,050 British pounds) for any Photo Workshop trip offered at www.create-away.com.

My friend and I have paid a deposit for two people for a photo workshop to southern France in 2022. It is a trip to photograph the horses of Camargue, medieval villages and the lavender fields. Unfortunately, we cannot take the trip for a variety of reasons but we are allowed to transfer our deposit to someone else to be used in 2022. That is why I am writing to the Evergreen Camera Club to see if someone would be interested in purchasing our deposit for $300 (value is $1394). You could choose from any trip they offer and they are photo workshops. You would not have to book the trip that we booked. I refer you to their website at www.create-away.com. If you are interested, I can share correspondence where Roz at Create Away acknowledges that we can transfer our deposit to someone else. Nothing will transfer, however without my approval.

This is a great opportunity to get photos that no one else in the Club would have, plus it is a great break on the deposit. Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards,
Bill Dickson
