Holistic Photography Workshop
Seeing, Sensing, Creating Mindful Images

Sunday, August 21 TO Saturday, August 27 2022
At Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu New Mexico

In the desert landscape, nature rewards us with a sensuous palette of colors. Ghost Ranch is about slowing down and connecting with the sacredness of the land. Come and explore the red rocks, deep blue skies and mystical petrified trees with your camera. While most photography classes focus on technical competency, this class takes a mindfulness approach, emphasizing intuition and imagination. When we release expectations of how things ought to look, we free ourselves to create artistic images that come from our soul.

Imagine an entire week with just you and your camera, surrounded in the beauty of Georgia O’Keeffe’s backyard. Tap into your intuition, your creative spirit and your five senses. Join kindred spirits at this unique workshop. It will change the way you take photos and it just may change the way you see the world.
A series of exercises will be offered each morning to engage the senses and improve your powers of observation and composition. Guided hikes and field work will be available or participants may choose to work on their own. We will photograph sunrises, sunsets and visit sacred landscapes around Ghost Ranch and the surrounding area. Digital images will be loaded onto a computer for sharing and group reflection. All levels welcome.

I would love to have group members join me. Feel free to contact me for more information

MAY 2021 T&T: Mounting Photos for Library Display

by ecc

The Evergreen Camera Club has the exhibition wall in the Evergreen Library reserved for displaying our photographs in the month of JUNE. This is a large display space, and can easily hold 60-100 photos, depending on size and arrangement, so there is room for EVERYONE to show some of their work. The easiest way to display your photos is to mount then on foam board and use Velcro to stick them to the wall.

FREE MEMBER FOAM MOUNTING MEETING:
At this Tips and Techniques meeting we will be mounting prints on foam boards. ECC will provide the material and expertise so you can mount your photos for the exhibit. So, gather up your photos. Size can vary. Many photos need to be 8×10 or larger to show well. They can be much larger if you prefer. Depending on the subject and how much they grab attention via color or contrast, some could be smaller.

As the COVID Pandemic is not over, please wear a mask and stay socially distant at this event.

This will be an excellent opportunity for members to bring their prints and get help mounting the prints to a backing suitable for display at the library.

For the library display, photos can be in frames, or mounted on foam board, or whatever. They need not all be mounted the same. The main wall is fabric-covered wood, and nails can be driven into it to hang framed photos with hanging wire.

You may also bring photos which are already prepared for the exhibit and we will collect them.

If you have photos that need mounting for the exhibit, come to our mounting workshop planned for 6:30 pm on Wednesday May 26. Please RSVP. Email ECC@evergreencameraclub.com to let us know if you’re bringing photos to mount or to drop off for the library exhibit.
