It’s time to get back to the basics of photography. Understand what it means to open up or stop down, when to stop action, when to allow your subject to blur and why. Learn which lens is best for each occasion and that ISO does not mean “In Search Of.” Whether you are new to photography or have been shooting for a while, you’ll learn some new techniques in this informative and entertaining Tips & Techniques presentation. Keep your camera handy so that you can follow along.

Ellen Nelson has been a professional photographer most of her life, living in Evergreen and Clear Creek County. She has worked as a university photographer, photojournalist, portrait photographer and freelance photographer, shooting for Time, Ms., and numerous newspapers and Colorado magazines, including Colorado Serenity and Colorado Life. She recently completed her Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) requirements, a prestigious designation achieved by only 2500 photographers worldwide, and earned a bronze medal in the 2019 International Photographic Competition. Connect with her on Instagram and Facebook: @ellennelsonphoto, ellen@ellennelson.com or www.ellennelson.com.
I was approached by Bruce Hansen at the Evergreen Art Center who was looking to give away a complete color enlarger system and a dry mount press. He will recycle them if no one wants them, but would love to give them to someone who would use them. He sent me the pictures below – please contact him at 303 909 2631 if you are interested in any of this gear.
Evergreen Camera Club members will be treated to a full lunar eclipse this January 20th. It’s the first full moon of 2019, and the first lunar eclipse of 2019 (and this is an eclipse-heavy year, with five eclipses, including two lunar eclipses in 2019). Plus, it’s the year’s first supermoon, meaning the moon is nearly at its closest to Earth for this month, as the eclipse takes place. Sadly, this will be the last total lunar eclipse to grace Earth’s sky until May 26, 2021.
The heads-up and details provided by new member Owen Newman:
Moonrise 4:45 pm 1/20 Azimuth (compass bearing) 63.2 degrees
Sunset 5:05 pm
Eclipse peaks at 10:13 pm
